OMG English Comp!

I've finally finished my four week English Composition class! That class was probably one of the MOST brain-exhausting classes that I've had to date. It wasn't because the class was hard (I never got anything lower than an A) but I found the instructors style challenging. We had NO Wimba (virtual class) Sessions, hardly any feedback on our assignments, and little to NO classmate interaction! In the past, my classes were easier because we had weekly classes where we could ask questions, chat with each other, and get to know exactly what our instructor wanted from us. With this class. . . we were kind of on our own. Yes you can email your instructors but I PREFER to see who I'm talking to AT SOME POINT!

This class was also different because we had TWO PAPERS due every week. They ranged in wording demands but, they were usually between 400-600 words each! Once we had completed our papers we had to post them in the activity FOR ALL TO SEE! Now personally, I didn't mind others reading my work but some of the papers I read were. . . interesting. . . (I'm going to leave it at that) It made me wonder what kind of grades they were getting. AND SPEAKING OF GRADES, when I received a 100 on a paper I would go to read the comments from the instructor and . . . there weren't any. . . Really? You couldn't just say what was good, what you liked, and what was interesting? I think my former instructors have spoiled me!

Oh well, all is great and I finished the class with a 98.5 (I used a comma wrong and he didn't like my sentence in one post) and I'm on to Storytelling! This class looks like it's gonna be a good one!

Until next time!

I'm not happy but. . . moving on

So the final grades were posted for Behavioral Science and I got a B. . . I hate getting Bs. I mean, they're fine for everybody else, just not me. I know I could have done better but I was still holding out hope for a better grade. . . *sigh* I was mad for an entire day. . . THEN. . . I got my first grade for my Film Foundations class project and it was a 100! My instructor said that my video was "probably one of the best examples" he's seen! That made the B not as important in the regular scheme of things. I'm throwing myself fully into these next few assignments and when the class is over, I'll post them all on here for you all to see :)

First Week of Film Foundations.

This is the end of Week 1 in Film Foundations and I'm truly intrigued by this class. I have an assignment due tomorrow that I need to be finishing up right now. . . I'll get to it in a second. It's called "Crew Position". This week we read about all of the different positions on a crew and now we have to figure out which one we would like to be and how that job suits us. I want to be a Producer/Director and so that's what I'm going to focus on. We could either write a 500 word essay, do a 3-5 minute video (narrated with pictures) or a "Presentation" with slides. I'm doing the video. When I'm done and it's graded, I'll post it here to let you all see how it turned out.
WIsh me luck on week 2!

The end of BSC!

I had to claw my way through Behavioral Science just because I couldn't really remain focused in it. It was a great class with great information but my mind just didn't really want to absorb the text. . . UNTIL THE END! This last week of BSC has been so informative and I've learned soooo much! Never did I think that I would actually learn something about myself, as a person, while taking a class to learn about others. I'll definitely be implementing some of the techniques that I learned during this class into my life! I've met new people, made a few friends and definitely made some serious changes in my behavior! Next up. . . Film Foundations!!

Almost Week 4 of Behavioral Science

Whew! These last two week have been kind of rough for me. I think that week off for summer break actually BROKE my stride! Either way, I'm still pulling through and maintaining GREAT grades. I've really enjoyed our weekly Wimba (online class) Sessions and the fact that I get points for attending is a GREAT BIG PLUS! If any of you out there is thinking of entering a career in any aspect of the Entertainment Industry, I highly suggest that you check out Full Sail University. There's a lot of naysayers out there but, take it from a student, IT'S A GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!

Behavioral Science!

This class looks like it's going to be pretty interesting. . . There are a bunch of assignments that are available each week and you get to pick which ones you want to do. I haven't decided which ones I want to do yet, I'm kind of just feeling my way around but, I need to decide soon. We have to post on a discussion board by Wednesday night and I need to get crackin on that! Either way, I'm sure I'll pass this class. I've got great MOTIVATION!

End of Week 4!

Hey everybody! I've finally made it to the end of my first class and I must admit, I'm not really glad that it's over but, I'm excited about the next class! The last assignments that I need to complete are 1) finally submit my iWeb assignment 2) the student course evaluation. I'll be taking a screen shot of my grades and posting that tomorrow once a few more of them have updated. You guys can expect a video to come somewhere in the middle of the week before we take the week off for the Fourth of July. I'm hoping to finish this class out with a high A (I tend to be a little hard on myself in this department) because I'm trying to be in the top in my class. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Beginning of Week 4

This is my fourth and final week in the Intro to Media Arts class and I must say, I've enjoyed every minute of it! Our last big assignment for this class is creating an iWeb page, compress it and submit it to our instructor. I've been working on mine since last week (it's due next Tuesday) but I'm going to put the finishing touches on it and submit it this week. I like to get my work in as early as possible just incase I run into any problems.
Even though I've only been attending Full Sail University for a little less than a month, I have really learned a lot and I'm loving the experience! If you've been contemplating a career in music engineering, music production, entertainment business, gaming, film or just about any other career there is. . . check out Full Sail FIRST!

In the meantime. . .

I'm 70% done with my last project for this IMA class. I think I'm kind of stalling just because I don't want it to be over. . . in the meantime though, I'm editing some music in GarageBand and making movie scores just for fun. I'm trying to sharpen all of the skills that I've learned in this class so far. When I'm done with it, I may post it or use it as the score for a short that I'm going to upload soon.
Keep your fingers crossed for me. . . it's been a great beginning and I hope this continues on FOREVER!

Week 3's WIMBA Virtual Class.

Tonight we had a Virtual Class via a website called Wimba. I really like these classes because it kinda helps me feel connected to the other students. It doesn't feel like I'm completely alone out here in education-land! It helps to be able to put a voice to the pictures that I see.

This class is almost over and I'm going to miss it. Introduction to Media Arts has been very informative and an absolute treat!

New iWeb Assignment

Today I noticed a new assignment available. . . iWeb. . . Personally, I know nothing about iWeb and I think that this might be the first project to really make me sweat :) Although it's not due until the 27th, I'm going to research iWeb tutorials on Youtube and do some reading. This should prove to be very interesting. Here goes nothing. . .

week 3 boredom!

I finished all of my assignments for week 3 and now I have nothing left to do. . . I've applied to join several of the Full Sail University student groups with hopes of networking with others. Any support along this journey is always greatly appreciated. I've even been thinking about petitioning to start my own Student Organization. . . that's a thought. . . maybe I'll look into that.

Week 3!

I woke up today READY for this weeks work assignments! I LOVE the podcasts, commercials and movie edits that we've been doing so far! I logged into my activities page and. . . there was only a reading assignment, a worksheet, a video to watch, and a thread to post on. . . Needless to say I was kinda bummed BUT I'm still loving every minute of this stuff.

I've got a really nice instructor and I've even been in contact with several classmates through email. It's good to network all through school because you never know who you're going to need once your education is complete. It seems like a lot of people are going for the Recording careers. Like producing or business. So far I've only seen one other person in a (virtual) class that was in Digital Cinematography like me. . . I'll have to do some digging around to see if there are more.

Anyway, those are my thoughts at 5:17am. . . I may post again later. HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYBODY!

REVISIONS!!!!!

Hey Everybody!

If you've been following (or are a new follower) I've decided to do an over-haul on this blog and totally dedicate it to my journey to a higher education! I'm a brand new student at Full Sail University Online and it has been WONDERFUL so far! I'm studying Digital Cinematography but my current class (Introduction to Media Arts) has totally blown my mind on the rest of the Media Arts fields! I've already completed the first 2 weeks of this class and there's only 2 weeks left until I move on to Behavioral Science (I totally can't wait for this class)!

I'll be updating periodically just to give you all a sense of what Full Sail Online is like for me. I hope you join me on this journey!
